I’ve always had a love of history, and since I grew up a block from the library in my small town my mother often jokes that I was raised by wild books, full of crazy ideas and dangerous information. I guess it comes as no surprise that I make chainmaile!
But it’s not all suits of armor (although I love making them). I mainly make jewelry, which is a lot easier to wear around than a full hauberk, and much more fashionable at the present moment. I like to use lots of color in my work, in the form of anodized aluminum, enameled copper or beads. I also enjoy using unexpected materials. Rings made from stone, shell, glass and crystal often find their way into my works, and in a multitude of different shapes. I like to say that if it’s ring-shaped, it’s fair game!
