Every year 70,000 young adults between the ages of 15 – 40 are diagnosed with some type of cancer. 10,000 of them will not survive. This statistic has remained unchanged since the 1970s.
BRICKS for Young Adults  Is Building Resources In Cancer Knowledge & Services
Pittsburgh is home to nationally and internationally recognized cancer treatment and research centers, but has no resources devoted entirely to addressing the unique needs of Young Adults diagnosed with cancer.

BRICKS for Young Adults aims to accomplish the following goals:
- To connect young adult cancer patients with people and resources that may be valuable to them during AND after their cancer experience
- To raise awareness of young adults as a unique demographic group within the cancer community, with needs and concerns specific to them
- To initiate a dialogue between young adults diagnosed with cancer and the people who care for them, including friends, family and healthcare providers
