We cannot thank you enough for your enthusiasm, your financial support of local artists, and for your involvement by attending events and spreading the word about the I Made It! Market.
We are incredibly excited for our FIRST EVER two-day holiday marketplace. And, the SouthSide Works is the perfect venue. We’ve made it easy for you to purchase handmade and local this holiday! Here’s how:
- The SouthSide Works is Totally accessible. Parking is easy and affordable, only $3 after 5 pm and on weekends. Or, take the bus. From downtown, take the 48 or 50 and from Shadyside take the 75.
- Friday night we are open until 10 pm! Pittsburgh doesn’t shut down at 5 pm on Fridays – come out to the Works, eat dinner, grab a coffee and then find us at 428 South 27th Street to shop. After you’ve amassed a TON of handmade goodies to gift to friends and family – catch a movie, sit for some tapas or enjoy a drink all in the Town Square.
- Save on shipping and meet your favorite local handmade artists in person. (Dec. 3 artists, Dec. 4 artists)
- Leave the wrapping to the American Red Cross who will be joining us on Saturday with wrapping for a donation.
Why shop handmade? I mean, it’s cool, but does it really matter?
- YES! It does matter. We can prove it. In the three years I Made It! Market has been popping up around the city, more than 350 artists have had the opportunity to bring their wares to market. YOUR purchases have supported their continued work. THANK YOU!
- Each of these makers is a neighbor of yours. When you support a local artist, you are instantly infusing the Pittsburgh economy. And, a maker can take the knowledge he or she gained through the experience to create again, knowing that his or her time and creativity is well worth the effort!
- Chat with our vendors. Many of these artisans will work with you to personalize their work to create a truly one-of-a-kind gift in time for the holidays.
- Producers from three films shot in Pittsburgh this summer purchased wares from artists participating in our SouthSide Works Exposed event to add to their movies. Hollywood knows handmade is the way to go.
Which day should I shop?
- Both! Come on Friday with friends then ~ bring mom and Aunt Bertie on Saturday so you can drop some hints yourself!
- Our artists change each day. Catch them while their displays are full of handmade goodness.
- Friday night shopping – don’t miss it. We’re open late so you can swing over after work.
- Pick up free arts magazines donated by Stampington Press. The magazines will be available both days. While supplies last!
