I credit I Made It! Market with taking my sewing hobby and launching it into the thriving small business that it is today.  Less than two years ago, I was wondering if the enjoyable sewing and creating that I was doing could be a sustainable way to earn money for my family.  I had heard of the amazing reputation of I Made It! Market events, and once I applied, I found them to be reliable, efficient, cost-effective, and amazingly fun ways for me to grow my business, create new contacts, and reach the clientele my business needed.   Through Carrie Nardini, the IMI team, and the other wonderful vendors at events, I have made countless contacts, received invaluable advice, and have even slowly begun a wholesale/consignment side to my business.  I also receive ongoing support and encouragement that enable me to bravely try new ideas and plan for growth.  I Made It! Market is the perfect platform for launching and sustaining a growing small local business, and because of its excellent reputation and dedication to cultivating a community of creators, the customer base is loyal and expanding!

As a marketplace, it should come as no surprise that I Made It! Market gives me an opportunity to sell my wares – many craft shows do. However, with Carrie Nardini at the helm, I Made It! Market gives me more than any other show – something worth so much more than even the very best day of sales. It gives me a community. Carrie is a connector. She connects with makers on a deeply personal level. She calls everyone by name and takes a genuine interest in their lives and their work. She makes connections between the people and businesses in her circle, always looking outside of herself for ways to help others realize their full potential. Being an entrepreneur isn’t for the faint of heart. It can be isolating, stressful, and overwhelming. I Made It! Market is the cure. The I Made It! Market community is inclusive and empowering. It provides a sense of belonging and support. It has brought people, who are used to being alone by the nature of their craft, together – to be each other’s friends, cheerleaders, inspirations, and co-conspirators. I Made It! Market offers empowerment and a belief that nothing is insurmountable because we’re all in this together. In a society and market that teach competition and self-preservation, Carrie and I Made It! Market prove the power of collaboration and community, and I am proud to be a part of it.

I have been participating in I Made It Market events for the past four years.  I enjoy working with the I Made It Team for many many reasons but here are a few;  They advocate for artists here locally in Pittsburgh, offering workshops, social gatherings, other vending events, They are impeccable at communicating and available day/night through e-mail to answer questions, concerns or to get advice. I've had staff booth sit for me, and help carry items to my car.  After working with many show promoters over the past nine years, although most are organized and friendly, I feel the I Made It Team overall brings something else, they actually care if our business does well they do this by providing advertising tips with press kits, helping with booth design ideas and tips on engaging with customers.

North Ave Candles are handmade in my Pittsburgh home. I personally craft each candle every step of the way using old-fashioned methods and premium ingredients. I choose only the best fragrance oils (always phthalate free!), as well as all natural waxes and wicks. They are poured in small batches and meticulously tested to ensure that each candle is fragrant and clean burning. I specialize in clever candles for literature lovers.   Visit website North Ave Candles Clever Candles for literature lovers
