Dichroic glass fascinates me. The process is a high-tech spin-off from the space industry. Dichroic-coated glass is thin layers of metallic oxides deposited upon the surface of glass. The results are that dichroic-coated glass reflects multiple colors, especially when viewed from different angles. I can select from a wide range of colors, patterns and textures, which are available on clear or opaque glass. I can also add color tints with iridescences. I cut the glass to shape and size. I then choose how I layer the glass, colors, patterns, dichroic surface inwards or outwards. Finally, I fire it at 1550° F, which fuses the pieces together and softens the edges.
When the earrings move, the colors change, “Dances w/Color”.
