Home Fermentation Basics with Author Jill Ciciarelli

Order tickets via Eventbrite: Fermentation Basics – Come and learn about getting started with home fermentation! The class will cover the health benefits of fermentation as well as different types of fermentation including information on how to ferment vegetables, fruit, dairy and coconut products, vinegar, and various beverages including kombucha and water kefir. Start fermenting right away with a hands-on demonstration on sauerkraut making and have your own batch of kraut fermenting by the time you leave.Jill Ciciarelli is a holistic health coach, food blogger at, and author of the book Fermented: A Four-Season Approach to Paleo Probiotic Foods. She ferments and experiments in her urban kitchen in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Please bring the following supplies:

1 half quart glass jar
1 medium or large head of cabbage
Unrefined sea salt
Knife and cutting board
Large bowl (large enough to hold an entire head of shredded cabbage)

Additional half quart jars will be available for sale at the workshop.
