About the Artist:
Fred Vella
The art of photography began for Fred as a child, on Christmas morning, when he received a pocket camera from his parents. His passion for the camera grew even stronger when he purchased his first professional model, a Canon AE1 program that
launched his hobby to new heights.

From the continental United States to Canada and to Europe his camera has been his traveling companion. Photography has always allowed Fred to capture the culture of large cities and small villages, bringing home what he has witnessed through the lens; sights so breathtaking they had to be caught on film and he had to be the one to catch them.

The beauty of nature has influenced Fred to evoke its own uniqueness. Because of the degree of depth and the intensity of colors that only the sun can create, he has been compelled to reach beyond his comprehension of still photography and incorporate emotions into his body of work. Fred’s photography sets itself apart.

Throughout his life, his work as a photographer has been more than a hobby that he has approached with great passion and enjoyment. Fred’s formal schooling began at St. Agnes Central Grade School and continued on to Mingo High School, both in Mingo Junction, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Steubenville with a B.A. in political science and acquired a teaching certification in social studies. He was elected for two terms as city councilman for the City of Mingo Junction, an LBJ Congressional Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives and worked for the Defense Mapping Agency in Washington, D.C.

Fred’s exhibits include:
Palm Beach Photographic Center, Delray Beach, 1999
Palm Beach Governor’s Club, West Palm Beach, 2003
Artist Showcase of the Palm Beaches, 2004
Hibel Museum of Art, 2004
Articles have been written about him in the Palm Beach Post and Who’s Who in America 2005. The camera was a gift to him and his collection of art is a gift to those who come to admire it.

Thank you fred for your kind wishes. Nice to chat earlier today. Your photographs of Venice well capture the mistical magical feeling of that city. Perhaps if you are in Florida at the time of our Art Walk in November 11-13, you can exhibit your photos. Looking forward to that.
    Sincerely,
    Jill
