KHPens & The Beaver Wood Wright
Hi There! My Name is Kelly Hogan, I’m an aspiring turner and I like to turn wood, Sounds Like I’m in an AA class doesn’t it. I find it quite relaxing to see wooden ribbons flying about and piling around my feet while I listen to my radio. It’s enjoyable to see my creations come alive before my eyes, not in a Dr. Frankenstein way though. That would just be creepy. I started wood turning in 2009 and haven’t looked back since. It’s very addicting once you start, I once read a post that stated:
“Quick, Save your money and sanity, give me all of your turning tools and runwhile you still can!”
Boy was that guy ever right, Once you start one project will branch into another. As your confidence and skills increase, you find that you want to do bigger and better things. But as a turner, Bigger isn’t always a better thing. You’ll find that in order to challenge yourself, you begin to make smaller things that are a heck of a lot more complex. But all in all, you enjoy your journey and look forward to what tomorrow’s trip will bring. Now I’ll bet you’re wondering what the heck is up with that Beaver…. it always comes down to the beaver. Well the story goes like this, I live and work in Beaver, PA , It’s a quaint town with lots of trees. In fact it is registered as a TreeCity USA town.
So naturally, I thought to myself, what shall you call this new business” well it wasn’t a far stretch to figure that one out, It just came naturally. With that, Beaver was born.
