Recycled Reads
I own a used book store in Cranberry Township, PA. I often come across books that are outdated or in such disrepair that they can no longer function as literature. With an extreme personal need to keep these books out of landfills I began creating beautiful functional items out of them.
I have had a lifelong habit of rolling paper. I don’t know when or why it started but I can’t remember ever not rolling paper. My sisters still remember that they could not read a newspaper after me because I would have the pages rolled to the center. I roll everything – even the paper strip around my napkin in a restaurant! Finally, I have found a use for an otherwise useless habit – that’s how I began making paper pottery.
All of my paper pottery items are made freehand; without a mold or other structure to guide me. My “pottery wheel” is a bright pink plastic Dora the Explorer lap desk. I hope you enjoy these products made from items that would otherwise have been tossed!
